We said farewell to Rachel and Gordon at 8am putting them into an Uber Comfort to the airport. Monday 15th was our last day before walking so part touristing for Imogen and part Camino preparations. After a suitable sleep in for her we popped to the vegan bakery for some lunch and then headed into the city.

Touristing with Imogen is very different than the trip so far, she really sees the detail and veers off course to get a closer look at a mural or tiles or a building. So while we covered similar ground we saw very different sites. It was also soooooo much quieter, way less tourists so easier to move around and see things.
We reached the cathedral and lined up with the folks waiting to enter to collect our credentials (which cost €2 each), this is basically a cardboard stamp book which we are to present filled with stamps in Santiago de Compostella to receive a certificate of completion. It is really to encourage walkers to spend money along the way with local businesses which is really cool.

Time for a beer and sangria for me, my first glass flew off the table when I lost the menu in my hand to the wind so 1.5 sangria for me afterall. There seems to be just one beer brand in Porto – or at least one dominant one, Super Bock – every outdoor seating area has umbrellas branded, there are caps for sale, every menu seems to just have this on tap, it’s everywhere. So Steve and Imogen had a Super Bock.
Then our last very cheap uber ride back to the apartment before we headed to Decathlon, the vegan shops and supermarket. Steve and I enjoyed some sour dough sandwiches and a yummy brie spread for our dinner, along with seedless tomatoes and other veges, making a nice change from the restaurant meals. Imogen did a bit more washing and we all had another early night.
Tomorrow we walk!
