We left New Zealand in August 2025 with an initial 5 month itinerary ahead of us:
France – Paris, Avignon, a Villa in Provence then
Portugal – Porto before heading off to walk the Portuguese Camino
Spain – Northern Spain for the Portuguese Camino
France – Bordeaux & Saint Emillion, then Paris with our niece and Lyon
Spain – starting in Barcelona then travelling the coastline back down to Portugal
Portugal – Algarve and Portomau MotoGP, Lisbon then fly to London
Switzerland – Zurich, Interlaken and up the Jungfrau
United Kingdom – London, Milton Keynes for Christmas, Brighton / Eastbourne, plus a winter road trip of the north including Scotland
Melbourne – both ends of the trip bookended with Melbourne, January 2026 for Australian Open and 40C heat.
2026
We returned to New Zealand in February 2026 and after chores including waist high weeds to deal with and planting 12 new trees on our property, we took a South Island roadtrip down the West Coast landing in Naseby for Easter with whānau. Then a North Island road trip from Auckland to Tauranga, Raglan, Tauramanui and down the Forgotten World Highway.
By May we had itchy feet again so back on a plane to London for 3 months, with one side trip to Italy otherwise the UK for summer – again bookended with Melbourne time to see our mokopuna (grandchild).
