Ronda and Setenil are both impressive to visit, full of tourists and steeped in history. We took a tour to these two towns and enjoyed seeing the areas surrounding Málaga.
Málaga is a great base for exploring Andalusia and is a lovely city as well. Great vibe, lots of sites, beaches and a cruise ship and super yacht port too.
With 4 UNESCO world heritage sites Córdoba has an amazing historic centre to explore. We weren’t there long but loved the vibe, it was also warm although it did rain on our last morning.
The Mezquita in Córdoba has been one of the highlights of our trip so far. Ancient, huge, beautiful and clever – a mosque and a cathedral in one massive building which reused roman columns as part of its construction.
When visiting Almería we enjoyed their historical sites including a guided tour of the Alcazaba, visiting John Lennon and the Castillo de San Cristóbal too.
Almería fascinated us, in between the ocean and the desert its arid landscape, kms of “greenhouse” gardens, variety of architecture – and the heat! we loved the heat.
Other towns we visited on the Costa Blanca included Alicante and Altea – very different yet both really interesting. We took the tram from Benidorm and struggled with the mid-afternoon heat.
Benidorm surprised us. We had an amazing spot, great view from our balcony. It was crowded but different that we’d expected. Also a well connected hub on the Costa Blanca.
We loved the food in Barcelona, such great variety, lots of tapas and local meals. We also loved the Miró museum, the hill it’s on and exploring the surrounding areas. A great few days in Barcelona.
We really enjoyed the different areas of Barcelona, the Gaudi architecture, the wide open streets with great pedestrian access, the outdoor escalators and so much more.
